Today, we will talk about creative visualizations, how to really embrace visualizations and the power of positive expectations to create the life we really desire. Some of you might know that creative visualization is an adaptation of meditative exercise for a specific purpose. It's a technique of using your imagination to create what you want in life. It is based on the principle that mind and body are intimately connected, and changes in the physical state of our body create changes in our minds. Similarly, every mental image lends to physical changes in the body.
Without a doubt, our bodies and our minds are interconnected in the way they work. We use visual imagery, imagery all the time, almost most of the time when we are not even aware of it. Through those visualizations, we learn how to use this technique consciously. Images and visualizations are very important parts of our everyday practice, we are equipped with the capacity not just to see what is around us, but to see with our mind's eye, as you could put it, and images in the mind's eye can be reconstructions of things that have passed of current experiences, or of how we want our future to play.
Most people I have to say really underplay and underestimate the power of creative visualizations, and power of positive expectations. So if we think about it, the not never has been anything that exists today, without someone imagining it first. Artists first think about what the picture might look like before he paints it, a dress has to be designed before it can be staged. The chef who creates a new dish first imagines how this new dish will look and taste before he actually experiments with the different ingredients. We create what we imagine if we think of ourselves as beautiful. Usually, we usually become beautiful, because we take care of ourselves and see that we become or remain beautiful. It's easy to see that in the mirror. Images supply us with creative energy or drive. The use and practice of imagery techniques can increase our awareness and understanding of our physical and psychological functioning.
Perhaps we can do a little exercise here to put this into practice. I suggest that you sit comfortably. You close your eyes. You relax your body. Imagine having a lemon in your hands. Try to smell it. There is no smell like the smell of lemon is there. Now, bite the lemon, bite its heart and let all the juices allowed around in your mouth and taste it. How does it taste like what happens? The saliva supports your mouth. This shows the power of your mind, you do not need the real thing, you just need the imagination that has created a physiological response in your body.
Creative visualizations can work in two different ways. We can either provide ourselves with an opportunity to learn more about previously hidden attitudes and our perhaps neglected needs, whether they're physical, emotional, or spiritual. Or we can use imagery to influence and direct the functioning of body and mind to gain what we want, at the physical, emotional or spiritual level. For example, if you want to get a new job decorating your bedroom to create a better atmosphere, or paint a beautiful picture, become more assertive, become radiant, being full of love. Or you might want to develop a meaningful as meaningfulness in your life or the spiritual levels, find your purpose, what you need to do is you need to get in a relaxed state and conjure up the image of your goal in your mind. Concentrate on this image as long and as frequently as possible. You will be surprised how you can build out a flow of energy, which allows you to do the things you need to do to achieve your goal.
At first, you should set yourself simple tasks. If you can achieve these simple goals, you will find that your confidence gradually increases, and you can do something bigger, and nothing feels impossible. Fortunately, what we humans often do is unconsciously imagined problems, difficulties, obstacles, uncertainties, worse-case scenarios, failures, and all sorts of emit limitations. We imagine this when we anticipate a future event. When we do that, we are completely hijacking our minds to create an outcome we do not want. Being able to master having positive expectations towards future events, can really change your life, which is why we're talking about this today.
When we say to ourselves, for example, that love is painful, it's suffering, it's hard work, we behave in such a way that it does turn out to be the case. What we are much less aware of is the possibility that through conscious thought, and imagination, we can achieve what we truly want, that love that we really, really desire. So, visualization is very, very effective. It has been proven through many, many different years of research. It's most effective when the mind is quiet, and the body is relaxed, and the eyes are closed. This helps to shut out intense interference from everyday thoughts. It puts the mind and body into a receptive state. So relaxation also helps to move visualization from seeing in the mind's eye to visualizing within the body. It gives us that creative energy and the drive needed to accomplish our goals. But of course, we need the motivation to do this.
If we're motivated to expand our capacities and increase our personal growth, then creative visualization can truly reveal the amazing power of our minds. It will allow us to achieve things we may not have anticipated, there'll be so much good. It's hard to believe. In order to understand how creative visualizations work, we need to accept that it is more than just wishful thinking. It involves exploring, discovering, and changing our deepest beliefs, and most basic attitudes. In the process, we might discover how we have been blocking our own goals, how we are preventing ourselves from enjoying life, through fear, and the negative concepts of the future. So we are projecting very often negative outcomes to future outcomes, completely subconsciously and we need to work on limiting that, on reducing that, and instead, replacing it with positive visualizations of future goals.
Also embracing emotions. How does it feel when we achieve that goal? How will it feel when we buy this house that we dream of? How will we feel when we go on this dream holiday and think about it, dream about it, and focus on that image as often as we can, your mind will come up with solutions to help you achieve that goal.
For creative visualizations to be effective, we need to follow four basic steps.
- Step number one is to set a realistic goal. Start with choosing a goal that is easy to accomplish. Before going on to more difficult to higher goals. That confidence can only be built through success. Setting unrealistic goals is a recipe for failure and negative reinforcement, which we are trying to move away from. So set a goal that is realistic.
- Number two, create a clear mental picture. It may not be necessary to actually see the image as long as your thoughts are clear. One person in every 10 finds it difficult to make a visual image. Think of your goal in the present tense as if it already exists and of yourself within that situation as you desire. This will be affirming that situations are first created in your mind.
- Step number three is focused on the picture of achieving that goal repeatedly. Both in a quiet meditative state, but also casually during the day. Whenever you happen to think about it. Make it an integral part of your life. The picture should, however, come to you effortlessly without striving. So practice before going to sleep or when you wake up in the morning when your body and mind are more relaxed.
- And step number four gives the picture more positive energy as you focus on it. Making it positive, encouraging statements or affirmations, as they're often called and by picturing yourself as actually achieving that goal.
During those affirmations suspend old doubts or these beliefs, and remove them from your head and from your heart. Make statements such as:
I am beautiful and lovable. I have a perfectly satisfying and well-paid job. I love and appreciate myself exactly how I am my relationships energize me, I am in control of my day. I love my work. I am richly rewarded for my work and a happy parent. I am in control of my emotions. I love and accept my body completely. I am ready for my run relationship to work. I accept all the goodness, all the wellness, and all the positivity the universe has for me, I am open to receive I am in control of my emotions, and I am able to handle my stress. I know how to look after myself. I know how to look after my family.
You can make you can create your own positive affirmations. Those affirmations should be related to the goal you have in mind. For example, if you dream of a beautiful new house at the seaside, you could use affirmations such as:
- I love waking up in the morning and hearing the waves breaking against the sand.
- I love the sound of the birds flying around the ocean, flying around the sea.
- I feel relaxed and happy.
- I love walks at the seaside.
- I love how they relaxed me and my soul.
- I feel so energized when I spend time at the seaside in my new home.
- My new home makes me feel happy.
- I am happy.
Making statements like this will help you create solutions to make you go and your dream come true. But you have to practice you have to believe and you have to practice. So I encourage you all to practice and start small. Before you're going to sleep or when you wake up in the morning. spend five minutes on visualizing something beautiful, achieving something beautiful like that.
I hope this works well for you.
