Well as you know we are all different. What is important for you might not be important for me. We have different value systems and different priorities. Just because we are all women doesn't mean that we prioritise our families or jobs in the same way. The need for being a mom first and working professional second isn’t the same for us all. This is why it's crucial that you take time to get to know yourself and understand what your highest values are.
Human values underline every aspect of human behaviour.. You could say that the hierarchy of your values dictate your destiny. So tell me what your values are and I'll tell you where you are going. If you really want to know how to empower your life and do something extraordinary with it- find out what your highest values are.
Finding out your values will help you find your life purpose and fulfilment, it will help you find your motivation, inner strength and work towards your goals...
Unfortunately not many of us know themselves very well. We don't have the luxury to take time to get to know ourselves.
Quite often we find out what we don't want first, before we figure out what we do want.
The best example of that is our relationships, our romantic relationships. Only by living with someone. Under the same roof and having them in your life regularly present, you learn what aspects of their behaviour irritate you and which aspects you are happy with…
I have some female friends who are very fulfilled in their primary role of a caregiver and a family maker. I know very few women who want to be a businesswoman first and mum second…but those who do - are the happiest at work and would never swap this order of priorities in their life.
It’s so important that you try to get to know yourself and empower yourself to live your life according to yours and not somebody else's values! Knowing this about yourself might help you improve your relationships, communicate effectively, build a successful business as you might have found out one of your highest values is wealth building or it could help you decide that you want to have a greater social impact on the lives of others, and giving back to community matters more to you than being rich.
So as you can see this is crucial information to know about yourself.. The areas of your life where you're not empowered in - people are going to overpower you.. It’s almost a given.
You might get distracted by ideas of other people who will impact how you live or enjoy your life.. John Demartini, author and motivational speaker says ‘’it's very important to fill your day with high priority actions so you don't fill your day with low priority distractions’’.
Ladies, this message is for you - only by knowing your highest values you are able to live your life freely, in an authentic way, focusing on what you really love.
This is why you should never judge yourself or others for having different values.
Your highest values could be: having a balanced life, being healthy, good physical appearance, power & status, social impact, building wealth, creating legacy for your children, or positive & fulfilling relationships,
There are many different ways in which you can find out what your highest values are. Please check out our suggestions underneath this video. However, an easy way to figure out what is important to you is by practising self awareness and observing your reactions in certain life situations: for example during a heated discussion when you don't feel heard and understood, perhaps when you feel ignored or disrespected, or when you have no impact on the outcome of an event. In those situations, the stronger the reaction and the biggest internal turmoil the higher chances that one of your values was not met.
Learn what is important to you by the way you react, in the absence of it.
Be kind, gentle and understanding towards yourself. Be your best friend.
